Motorcycle exhibition in the Road museum

kergmootorrattad NLiidus

Ten Soviet times motorbikes produced in 1947 to 1971 are exhibited in the Estonian Road museum during summer. These represent the majority of Soviet models of that period.

All motorbikes are repaired by the Road museum restorer Üllar Meho. The first vehicle was bought by Meho 3 years ago, today there are 16 in his collection. „I do not aim to gain a black number plate, but rather to get the motorbike ready for use with as many original spare parts as possible,“ Meho explained.

Production of 125cm3 light weigh motorbikes in Soviet Union started after the WWII, based on manufacturing cells brought from Germany as war trophies. The first Soviet motor bikes were copies of German DKW RT 125 models.

The exhibition introduces three Soviet motor bike factories and their models.

Curators of the exhibition Paavo Kroon and Siiri Toomik.
