10 Soviet times motorbikes produced 1947 – 1971 are exhibited in the Estonian Road museum during the summer season. Almost all the models of that period in the Soviet Union are represented.
All motorbikes are repaired by the restorer of the Road museum Üllar Meho. The first vehicle was bought by Meho 3 years ago, for now there are 16 in his collection.
„It is not the purpose to get a black number plate, it is rather to get the motorbike roadworthy using possibly original spare parts,“ Meho explained his purposes.
Production of light weigh motorbikes of 125cm3 in Soviet Union started after the WWII. It based on manufacturing cells brought from Germany as war trophies. The first Soviet motor bikes actually were the copies of German DKW RT 125 models. The bikes were produces in Moscow, Minsk and Kovrov factories.
