Accessibility

The most convenient way to reach the Estonian Road Museum is by car. At the Tartu-side entrance of the museum there is a free 200-space parking area, from which a logical and convenient route leads through the entire museum complex.

Visiting with children

The Estonian Road Museum is family-friendly and, in addition to permanent exhibitions, offers dedicated activity areas for children. The main building houses a children’s museum, and the outdoor area features a traffic town where children can learn and explore in a safe environment. In both areas, instructors are present; however, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The museum’s historic road space is authentically designed, and road sections from different eras may make movement with strollers or prams difficult in some places. Museum staff are happy to assist visitors when needed. The most convenient access to the traffic town with a stroller is via the roadside exhibition area.

For visitors with infants and toddlers, changing tables, hygiene supplies, and potty chairs are available in the accessible toilets in the Teemaja and the exhibition hall.

For visitors with special needs

The Road Museum is located in a historic road environment, which may make wheelchair access challenging in certain areas. The historic road space, the old post station courtyard, and its surrounding areas feature road surfaces from different periods that are not always even. Access to the permanent exhibition on the ground floor of the old post station main building is possible with the installation of a temporary ramp. Accessible toilets are located in the Teemaja and the machinery hall. Visually impaired visitors may explore the museum with a guide upon request.

If you inform us in advance of your visit and any assistance needed, we can better prepare for your arrival. Phone +372 5899 8064.

Visiting with a dog

Four-legged friends are welcome at the Road Museum. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor museum area and must be kept on a leash at all times. Dogs are generally not permitted indoors. As an exception, small dogs that can be carried in arms or in a carrier bag are allowed indoors, but moving around indoor spaces with dogs is not permitted.

Thank you for being considerate of other visitors and the museum environment.
