Accessibility
The easiest way to reach the Estonian Road Museum is by car. At the Tartu-side entrance of the museum, there is a free 200-space parking lot, from which a logical and convenient route begins through the museum area.
Visiting with Children
The Estonian Road Museum is family-friendly. In addition to permanent exhibitions, there are special activity areas for children. The main building includes a children’s museum, and the outdoor area features a traffic town where children can learn and play in a safe environment. In both areas, instructors are present, but children must always remain under adult supervision.
The museum’s historic road space is authentically designed, and road sections from different eras may make movement with strollers or prams somewhat difficult in places. Museum staff are happy to assist visitors when needed. Access to the traffic town with a stroller is easiest via the roadside exhibition area.
For visitors with small children, changing tables, hygiene supplies, and potty chairs are available in the accessible toilets at Teemaja and the exhibition hall.
For Visitors with Special Needs
The Road Museum is located in a historic road environment, which may make wheelchair access difficult in certain areas. Different historical road surfaces are displayed in the historic road space and the old post station courtyard, and these are not always even for movement. Access to the permanent exhibition on the first floor of the main building of the old post station is possible with the installation of a temporary ramp. Accessible toilets are located in Teemaja and the machinery hall. Visitors with visual impairments may explore the museum with a guide upon request.
If you inform us of your visit and any assistance needs in advance, we can better prepare for your arrival. Phone: +372 5899 8064.
Visiting with a Dog
Four-legged friends are also welcome at the Road Museum. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor museum area, and visitors are kindly asked to keep them on a leash at all times. Dogs are generally not permitted indoors. As an exception, small dogs may enter if carried in arms or in a pet carrier. Walking dogs indoors is not allowed. Thank you for respecting other visitors and the museum environment.
